SIMEDHealth Announces Chiefland Clinic Expansion

We are excited to announce that SIMEDHealth will be expanding our Chiefland clinics! During the ground breaking ceremony physicians, managers and staff were excited to celebrate the expansion. It is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2019.

The expansion will include new clinic space, additional parking, accessibility improvements for both staff and patients and additional health services.

“I’m thankful to Chiefland, because Chiefland has welcomed us with open arms,” said SIMEDHealth’s Dr. Jessie Lipnick  “I think in rural settings, many health care practices are not stable, but we have been stable and I’m excited by this vision that we have of bringing specialty care to a rural community.”

Rural communities often face greater difficulty getting the care they need due to their distance from metropolitan areas and providers. Because of this, SIMEDHealth is proud to expand health care options in Chiefland.

“Every day I go online and I hear about another major entity in a rural setting shutting down. But the level of quality care that our doctors and staff have put into this community is what has allowed us to expand,” said SIMEDHealth CEO Dr. Daniel Duncanson

After taking a look at the blueprints for the expansion, doctors and managers gathered to put on hardhats and officially “break ground” to commemorate the good news.

“Now you can get up-to-date, comprehensive, excellent medical care in a rural community,” said Dr. Lipnick who has been serving the Chiefland community for over 17 years.

“SIMEDHealth is excited that today we get to throw some dirt and build the next phase of Chiefland health care,” said Dr. Duncanson followed by a round of applause.

SIMEDHealth helps raise over $225K for American Heart Association

On Saturday, September 22, roughly 300 SIMEDHealth employees, family members and many community organizations helped to raise over $225,000 for the American Heart Association.

“My favorite part was meeting new people and seeing such large community support,” said Angie Kuhn, SIMEDHealth’s chief operating officer.

The annual Alachua County Heart Walk saw its largest crowd this year. An estimated 3,000 people arrived at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL, to raise funds and help prevent heart disease and stroke.

“We are proud to support and promote this initiative to get people active and to spread the word about heart health. The health of our community is our top priority,” said Kuhn

SIMEDHealth’s goal by participating in the Heart Walk is not only to raise funds for the American Heart Association, but to allow employees, families and the entire community to participate in their health and commit to leading healthy lifestyles. The Heart Walk also allows our four-legged friends the chance to break a sweat.

“The walk was a lot of fun for my two-year-old Shih Tzu, Gracie and me. She became the unofficial mascot for SIMEDHealth and had her very own name tag! She greeted every single solitary person that she could. Her and me finished the walk together and then went home and took a nap,” said Julie Stout, owner of Gracie and SIMEDHealth HR generalist.

This annual event also allows a unique opportunity for SIMEDHealth team members to build relationships, in turn creating a more harmonious workplace and a positive environment for the patients we serve.

“On Saturday morning I set a new personal record. This time not in the time, endurance, courage or the strength category, but rather in the fun category; this was an absolutely fun event giving me the opportunities to not only mingle with my SIMEDHealth colleagues and friends but also with people in the community. Everyone worked up a good healthy sweat for a good cause,” said Lambert Vaes, SIMEDHealth Chief financial officer and fitness enthusiast.

SIMEDHealth Electronic Check-in Now in Gainesville Primary Care

You may have noticed a few changes in our clinics, as SIMED has transitioned to SIMEDHealth. The biggest change so far is our new electronic check-in system.

After testing this system in our Gainesville Neurology, Neurosurgery and newly renovated primary care suite, we are excited to announce the addition of this system in our Urgent Care clinic and Gainesville Primary Care clinics.

This E-check-in system allows for less paperwork, secure transfer of health information and an improved patient experience. It may seem complex but is actually fairly simple.

As appointment times approach, patients will receive a reminder notification and be prompted to fill out paperwork via text message or email. Once patients arrive, they’ll need to briefly complete their registration on an electronic pad (shown above). This allows our patients to spend less time in a waiting room and more time with their providers. With less paperwork to sift through, clinic staff and physicians can focus on delivering personalized care to patients.

Our E-check-in system also allows patients to verify insurance coverage before exams and pay all remaining balances on their accounts.

The system is held to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), is registered as an approved solution with Visa and MasterCard, and uses top encryption and security technology to protect your financial information. Your credit card information will never be saved in the system, and staff members will also only be able to see the last four digits of your credit card number to ensure the data is unusable in the event of a breach. The new electronic check-in system meets the strict security requirements of the healthcare industry to ensure patients are protected. All the information you enter is private, secure, and never stored in a physical location.

At SIMEDHealth, we are always looking for new ways to make our patient experience more efficient and personalized. We’re excited to be able to offer this new feature in our Gainesville Primary Care and Urgent Care clinics and look forward to keeping our patients in the best of health.

Keep an eye out for more announcements about our E-check-in system as we introduce it to more clinics in our practice.

As of yesterday, April 1, 2018, Southeastern Integrated Medical, PL (SIMED) and Digestive Disease Associates of North Florida have combined practices to form a new health care system known as SIMEDHealth, LLC.

“The creation of SIMEDHealth will provide a stronger foundation by which our combined efforts will allow us to do more for our patients, employees, and communities. By combining our efforts and resources we will be able to go farther than either of us could individually towards enhancing the health in our region, and doing so as stewards of the rising healthcare costs,” said Daniel M. Duncanson, M.D, the Chief Executive Officer of SIMEDHealth.

For patients, this transition will be seamless. You will continue to see your doctors in the same locations and your healthcare records and appointments will automatically be integrated into the new SIMEDHealth healthcare system.

Formed in 1987 and headquartered in Gainesville, SIMED has been leading the North Central Florida healthcare region through the transformation towards measurable higher quality and accountable care. Our independent multi-specialty healthcare system also has locations in Ocala, Chiefland, Lady Lake, McIntosh and Lake City.

DDA is the only independent, full-service Gastroenterology medical practice in Gainesville with clinics in the Medical Arts building on the HCA/North Florida Regional Medical Center Campus. DDA was founded in 1979.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with SIMED and be able to provide more resources for our staff and physicians. It is important for physician practices to work together to continually develop themselves so they can provide patients and the community with needed services,” said Scott Johnson, Practice Administrator of DDA.

As this transition takes place, you will start to see our new logo on forms, business cards, our website and more.

After months of planning and hard work, all of us at SIMED are filled with joy, anticipation, and excitement to begin this new journey as SIMEDHealth and even more excited to take you along with us.

SIMED Psychologist Wins Distinguished Award

SIMED health Psychologist Cathleen Civiello won the 2018 Distinguished Psychologist in Management Award from the Society of Psychologists in Management

SIMED is pleased to announce that Cathleen Civiello PhD, the most recent addition to the SIMED Health Psychology team has won the 2018 Distinguished Psychologist in Management (DPIM) Award presented by the Society of Psychologists in Management (SPIM).

The Distinguished Psychologist in Management Award “recognizes outstanding contributions to the practice of management by a psychologist.” Awarded annually, its highly selective nomination process results in an honoree who has developed practices that “have a major impact on people in organizational settings and/or on the professions of management.”

Dr. Civiello was recognized for her work using clinical psychology to affect a cultural change in intelligence agencies. Previously, she won the “Mentor of the Year” Award from an organization with more than 60,000 employees. She also received an award from President Barack Obama for her work.

Dr. Civiello once served as president of SPIM. In her first SPIM meeting, she sat next to Dr. Harry Levinson who was the first DPIM recipient in 1985. Many consider Dr. Levinson to be the father of managerial psychology and the application of psychology in organizations.

“It was humbling to have been nominated for and even more so to have been selected for this same DPIM award,” Dr. Civiello said. “Although the psychologist who nominated me for the DPIM award primarily used my work in the past 30 years, he also commented on my transition to SIMED.”

“From the time I began interviewing for a position in SIMED, I was attracted to the organization because SIMED leaders and clinical staff, in our integrated care model, apply good management in a way that enhances patient care and patient health.”

As the recipient of this year’s award, Dr. Civiello will present a lecture at SPIM’s annual convention in February about her work at SIMED and how leadership and management science informs clinical work.

“Dr. Civiello winning the Distinguished Psychologist in Management Award is well earned,” said Dr. Daniel Duncanson, SIMED CEO. “She has dedicated her career to helping others through difficult times and her commitment to the field of Psychology and to serving our veterans should be applauded by all.”

“Her personality, background and professional skills make her a wonderful addition to the SIMED team.  We are thrilled she chose to relocate to North Central Florida for this next phase of her career.”

Poster for SIMED's New Digital Check-In

SIMED will initiate a new faster, more secure check-in system in select clinics.

The new electronic check-in system will replace traditional check-in at SIMED Neurology and SIMED Neurosurgery in Gainesville on February 6th. On February 7th, SIMED Primary Care Suite 15 and Chiefland Primary Care will begin using the system.

Patients of these clinics will experience a faster, more private check-in experience. If the trial proves successful, the new check-in system will be integrated throughout all SIMED locations.

Quick, Secure Check-In

With the new check-in system, you will be able to fill out your information by text message or email. When your appointment approaches, you will get a notification to fill out your information in advance saving you time in office.

Once you arrive, you will be able to complete your registration on one of the available electronic pads. After you check in, your health information will be sent to the doctor you’re seeing.

The new electronic check-in system meets the strict security requirements of the healthcare industry to ensure patients are protected. All the information you enter is private, secure, and never stored in a physical location.

Improved Patient CareFlyer for SIMED's New Check-In System

With an automated check-in system, our clinic staff will now have more time to deliver personalized care to each patient. Physicians will be able to quickly pull up and add to patient files and will be able to spend more time delivering care to patients.

SIMED clinics will also be able to send you reminders when you need to schedule another appointment to ensure you stay on top of your health.

Safe, Efficient Payment

We will be able to verify your insurance coverage prior to your exam, and you will be able to pay all copays and balances in a secure environment with the new system.

The system is PCI-compliant, registered as an approved solution with Visa and MasterCard, and uses top encryption and security technology to protect your financial information.

Your credit card information will never be saved in the system, and staff members will also only be able to see the last four digits of your credit card number to ensure the data is unusable in the event of a breach.

SIMEDHealth Press Release

SIMED and Digestive Disease Associates of North Florida are proud to introduce SIMED Health

SIMED AND DIGESTIVE DISEASE ASSOCIATES FORM NEW HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

SIMEDHealth providing healthcare throughout North Central Florida
GAINESVILLE, FL - Southeastern Integrated Medical, PL (SIMED) and Digestive Disease Associates of North Florida, Inc. (DDA) announced today they are combining practices to form a new healthcare system called SIMEDHealth, LLC.

Formed in 1987 and headquartered in Gainesville SIMED has been leading the North Central Florida healthcare region through the transformation towards measurable higher quality and accountable care. An independent multi-specialty healthcare system also has locations in Ocala, Chiefland, Lady Lake, McIntosh and Lake City.

DDA is the only independent, full-service Gastroenterology medical practice in Gainesville with clinics in the Medical Arts building on the HCA/North Florida Regional Medical Center Campus. DDA was founded in 1979.

Daniel M. Duncanson, M.D. was named as the Chief Executive Officer of SIMEDHealth. “The creation of SIMEDHealth will provide a stronger foundation by which our combined efforts will allow us to do more for our patients, employees and communities. By combining our efforts and resources we will be able to go farther than either of us could individually towards enhancing the health in our region, and doing so as stewards of the rising healthcare costs.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to partner with SIMED and be able to provide more resources for our staff and physicians. It is important for physician practices to work together to continually develop themselves so they can provide patients and the community with needed services.” said Scott Johnson, Practice Administrator of DDA.

“For decades medical practices have proudly stood as small and often single specialty groups. By partnering together SIMEDHealth will be able to bring sophisticated healthcare administration, data analysis, and efficiencies usually only available in larger cities. Bringing these efforts to our region while keeping that ‘small town touch’ we’re used to is one of the exciting aspects of this historic leap by the physicians and leadership of both groups.” said Daniel M. Duncanson, MD, Chief Executive Officer of SIMED.

SIMEDHealth will officially begin April 1, 2018. For patients this transition will be seamless as they will continue to see their same physicians in the same locations. Their healthcare records and appointments will automatically be integrated into the new SIMEDHealth healthcare system. For more information, patients can visit the SIMEDHealth website at www.simedhealth.com.

SIMEDHealth press release

SIMED, Digestive Disease Associates Form New Healthcare System

SIMED Proud to Introduce SIMED Health with Digestive Disease Associates

Southeastern Integrated Medical has exciting news for you about our future.

SIMED and Digestive Disease Associates of North Florida Inc. (“DDA”) will combine practices to create a new multi-specialty health system. The new health system, SIMED Health, LLC, will bring our efforts together and strengthen our ability to provide patients with quality, cost-effective healthcare.

Benefits to Patients of the New Healthcare System

1.Same Great Experience You Expect
The immediate impact will be minimal for our patients. You should expect the same great experiences you have become comfortable with at SIMED and DDA to continue under SIMED Health. The staff, physicians, and locations will all stay the same.

2. Electronic Records & Connectivity
Your medical records will remain in the same secure location. However, over time, electronic connectivity between the different locations will develop and enhance the efficiency with which your healthcare provider obtains your information.

3. Improvement in Healthcare Experience
By combining resources, SIMED Health will have unparalleled data analysis capabilities. Using data, SIMED Health physicians will have access to resources only available to larger practices. They will be able to examine how to deliver efficient, effective healthcare to you focusing on your experiences and improved outcomes.

Benefits to the Communities of the New Healthcare System

1. Higher Quality of Care
Based on peer review statistics from the region, SIMED physicians score in the highest percentiles on quality metrics. This means SIMED patients are more likely to receive care that achieves their desired results. The same statistics also show that the SIMED patient’s total cost of care is lower than average. We all benefit from bringing the knowledge SIMED has acquired over years of achieving these results to other physicians in our communities.

2. Greater Healthcare Options within the Community
While there are times large healthcare systems are necessary, in most situations, the same quality healthcare can be provided at independent healthcare facilities and practices.  Independent healthcare is important to ensure we all have lower cost, higher quality treatment options available to us, and SIMED provides a proven foundation and opportunity for independent healthcare groups to remain strong and viable.

3. Lower the Cost of Health Care
When healthcare is attached to a hospital system, the cost increases dramatically. It is everyone’s responsibility to try to lower the total cost of healthcare, and we take that responsibility seriously. We understand that for many patients, the out-of-pocket healthcare expenses are skyrocketing.

SIMED Health will continue to serve our communities and offer more opportunities for improved affordability of healthcare.  Our communities will continue to benefit as we develop and expand opportunities for physicians to be part of a reliable, sustainable, independent network of medical groups.

Benefits to SIMED Health Employees

1. Sustained Relevance
The topics mentioned above provide a secure foundation upon which our healthcare system will remain a viable, relevant system for the indefinite future.

2. Greater Opportunities
By increasing our employee numbers, we anticipate enhanced benefit packages and the ability to further amplify our staff and manager development programs.

We are so excited to involve everyone in this new venture. Please continue to check back for updates.

More details will follow as we move closer to SIMED Health beginning operations April 1, 2018.
